Why attend the Summer Institute?

To learn how Word Generation supports students' academic language and vocabulary development.

It also targets skills emphasized in the Common Core State Standards, such as argumentation, reasoning, synthesis of information from a variety of texts, and discussion.

To attend workshops led by Professor Catherine Snow of Harvard Graduate School of Education, Professor Catherine O'Connor of Boston University, and Word Generation Director Dr. Claire White.

To participate in simulations of Word Generation classes in each subject area.

To learn about accountable talk through workshops and by watching videos of teachers using it.

To talk with teachers who have used and helped write Word Generation.

To work with coaches to plan ways to implement Word Generation in your school.

To learn strategies you can use this fall, such as how to run an effective debate in any content area.
